Movie Star Heartland

I’ve been to LA countless times but have never actually seen a movie star there. Now, in a combat zone half way around the world they’re thick as locusts. Tonight Vince Vaughn came to our camp for the premier of his new movie “Wedding Crashers.” I unfortunately didn’t get the one-on-one time with him that I did with good ol’ Dean Cain when he was here, but it was still really cool to see him. He went on stage and introduced the movie and then went to the balcony to sit and watch it with us. About half way through the movie there was a projector mishap and the screen when blank. Thankfully, a few creative soldiers in the middle rows broke out a flashlight and treated us all to a five minute long shadow puppet show on the big screen. It was hilarious, and Vince (yes we’re on a first name basic) apparently got a kick out of it also. Before long the movie was up and running again. Every time Mr. Vaughn was featured on screen doing anything remotely funny all the soldiers cheered and clapped for him like crazy. It was really cool to have one of the leading actors there with us in the theater while we watched his film. After the movie had ended he went back on stage to say a few parting words and to answer any questions we might have. Apparently those weren’t really the redhead’s boobs (though he “enjoyed making the scene nonetheless.”) and that wasn’t really Vince’s crotch during the dinner scene. That was about the extent of the Q & A session. Leave it to U.S. soldiers to ask the important question I guess.
