Piece of cake

I’ve been back in Iraq for a few days now and I feel surprisingly good. I intended to go back with as positive an attitude as I could muster. Somehow I’ve actually managed to be relatively happy about my situation, if for no other reason than because I know it will all end before long. I had such an amazing time at home. Instead of being depressed that I’m not there I think I’m just really excited to be going back for good soon. Leave gave me a taste of what I’ll be returning to when this is all over. I am fortunate to have a loving family and great friends. If I can manage to maintain this attitude, the remainder of this deployment will be a breeze.
