More time with the kids
I’ve had several chances to hangout with “my kids.” The other day I spent an hour or so with them writing their names in English on little pieces of paper for them to take home. Rafudi (one of Elmo’s older brothers) tried to get me to stay for the whole afternoon. He seems to think that I leave the wire on my own accord and can stay as long as I like. He told me that he would stay and play as long as I did. I told him to get a bed ready at his house and that I’d come over for dinner to meet his parents and stay the night. It was obvious that he didn’t think that was a good idea. It’s one thing to hang out with soldiers in the middle of a barren field, but quite another to let your friends and neighbors see you bring one to your home. I imagine we’d both be in some trouble if I wondered into his village. While he’d get some stern looks and maybe a belt across the rear, the trouble I’d find would most likely be the kind you don’t recuperate from.

I have been reading your journal for quitte some time and I am glad you are back.
My brother just got back over there for the seond time and as he left you stopped writing. It was quite wierd to sit and worry about a brother and a soldier whom I have never met but feel close to.
Thank you for writing and know that there are probably many of us out there that worry for you as if you were family.
Looking forward to the pics of the kids again. I hope that the lovely river does not reappear.

This is the first time I have looked at your blog, and saddly enough only had time to read a couple, but I wanted to leave a little message to say hi! I can't wait to read more and it was lovely hanging out for the short period of time we did. Rian and I are still wonderful and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Do you have any other form of contact? My e-mail is cunsbee@up.edu.
