They have arrived

This afternoon my platoon sergeant came into my room and said I better round up a few guys and hook a trailer up to one of the trucks. My mail had arrived. Thirty-seven boxes of shoes and clothing were piled high in the middle of another platoon's hallway waiting for me. I was able to make it back to my building in one trip, but just barely. The boxes were stacked three high in the trailer and I had to drive slowly so they wouldn't spill out all over the road. The connex that I was going to use to store them in has not arrived yet so now they are just stacked in the hall of my building. You can barely squeeze past them they take up so much room (and there are still several more boxes on the way). This evening I ran in to a bunch of our kids and told them that their shoes had arrived and let them know when and where we'd pass them out. I think they though I'd been bluffing all this time because they looked pretty surprised. Elmo said that she’s bringing all of her sisters, brothers, and friends. It's going to be a good time.

Thanks for your blog. We have such a hard time connecting the news to real life. Always praying things go well for you.

Joe-wow, are the boys and girls going to be excited when they see the clothes and shoes we sent. You can be certain that Aunt Barbie, Aunt Susie and I took extra time to rummage through all the goods to send the best to your little flock in Iraq. There are some awesome, cute outfits for the girls and very cool athletic stuff for the boys. Try not to let the outfits get separated when you're giving them out...sorry, I'm being motherly now! ;-) Love you! Momma xoxo

Hello, Joey. My children and I contributed a very little bit of the clothes and shoes you received today and this is the first time I've looked at your blog, as the URL was in a thank-you to my children's school from your father. I am wildy and devastatedly impressed with you as a person and am going to share entries from your blog with my children, so that they can see an admirable and brave young man behaving well and heroically. What a fantastic example of a person, a man, an American and a soldier you are setting for them and everyone else exposed to you and the things you do.
