at least there's plenty of sand

It pains me to write about it, but I frequently spot new lows in the armor protection level around here. The last miserable excuse for armor that I've witnessed was a Humvee that's only protection was the sandbags ratchet strapped to the hood. If these men come under attack those bags are not going to do a damn bit of good. I don’t want to hear that young men die because the powers that be don’t see fit to supply them with what they need. No matter what Uncle Sam says, this problem has not been solved and probably won’t be during my unit’s deployment. It should not be a roll of the dice decision as to who will have protection and who will go without.
