Burning alive
It has been hot as blazes around here for the last several weeks. Summer is in full effect and the temp seems to climb every day. It usually reaches 105 by 9am. By mid afternoon we’re talking the deep teens. We don’t even mention the fact that it’s over 100 anymore, that goes without saying. We have seen more 120+ days than I care to think back on. There is no such thing as a “wind chill factor” here either. The wind is always blowing, but somehow it makes you feel hotter not cooler. Imagine walking around in a giant sauna while some jerk follows you around pointing a blow dryer in your face. Add a swirling cloud of talcum powder and I think you’ll have the idea. The good news is, however, that after months of waiting the AC in our room has finally been fixed. Morale in good ol’ room #8 is now at its highest. Trying to sleep each night while steam rose off of our bodies was driving the four of us crazy. But now, with a comfortable temperature, the death threats have ceased and we’re all friends again.
