I'd rather have a fly swatter

So it looks like tomorrow the army is going to “dip” our new uniforms, whether we like it or not. In the morning they are going to soak three of our four sets of uniforms in the insect repellent DEET. Most of us (including most of our immediate leadership) are not too keen on the idea. It doesn’t seem to me that spending 15 sweaty hours a day in chemically coated clothing can be very good for you. Many an article and study (such as this and this) tie soldier’s exposure to a combination of DEET and a few other chemicals to a particular sort of nervous system damage known as Gulf War syndrome. Sweeeeet. I can’t wait to try on my new brain scrambling duds!

So, I read the links you sent educating us about OP's...hmmm doesn't sound too healthy for our soldiers! It's a shame you aren't given a choice to "DEET DIP" or NOT! Such is life in the military it's "their way, or THEIR WAY." As always, we are praying for YOUR safety and the safety of ALL soldiers serving our great country! Love, Momma

Hey at least I can stop worrying about you getting the west nile virus, because that was my main concern over there in Iraq (that and the flesh eating spiders that are as big as a cat!) So, what are they doing with the fourth uniform?
thinking of you! xoxo Nic
