We stopped and checked a truck that had crashed on the side of the road. By the time we got there it had been completely looted. Soon after we left someone set it on fire and we had to return to pull security while the fire was extinguished. I sat on a knee with my rifle pointed outward as the truck burned behind me. Directly in front of me was a field of tall green grass and beyond it a village. Over a loud-speaker a man sang a prayer song as people gathered nearby to watch the truck burn to the ground. It was like a scene out of a movie. Sensory overload. No one was injured thankfully and the fire was eventually extinguished.

It's true, I failed Phil. When we first checked the truck there was indeed a poster of Britney. It was the only thing that wasn't stolen. Unfortunately, Miss Spears went up in flames a short time later. I may never forgive myself.

Joe,
I'm very glad you have Elmo and the other children to bring you a laugh and good feelings in a situation which is dangerous and could be depressing.

Keep strong, Joe. All of us will think of you this Easter and pray for a save journey for you and your fellow soldiers.

I'm sure glad you were just watching the burning truck!

Love you, Aunt Marilyn
